The Situation

At Northwestern University, my mechatronics experience can be separated into three projects: a thermostat, a wheel encoder, and a strain gauge.

The Results

The thermostat, pictured above, functioned through the calculation of the resistance of a thermistor. As it calculated the resistance, it provided heating or cooling to a aluminum block.

The strain gage quantified and

determined the linear relationship

between a mass load on the free end of a

cantilever beam and the output voltage of

a single and double strain gauge.

The wheel encoder characterized the

operation of an electric DC motor

with an optical encoder and Hall

Effect sensor.
